Okay, this question is some years old, but maybe the answer helps someone else. For me, one of the best books on accounting in the context of investing is “Why stocks go up and down” by William H. Pike. I discovered this from a book recommendation by Michael Burry for starting investors referenced on the ValueWalk blog. I think it is really good book for understanding basic accounting concepts and their relation to investing.
